After a great transition period over the past months, it is time to officially pass on the directorship of Stories Behind the Stars to Linda Simpson (lindas@storiesbehindthestars.org). I am sure she will continue to do the fabulous job she has steadily done since she first got involved in July 2020. I am confident that with the continued support of our many great volunteers she will see much success in leading the effort to see that all 421,000 US WWII fallen each have a story that will be available to all for decades to come.
I appreciate that Linda will be able to provide the time and attention this role deserves. I will still be around to help as time permits as a senior advisor. I am also volunteering to take on the Washington DC list of WWII fallen and finding people to help write those stories.
Thanks to everyone who is participating in this project. This is a historic grassroots effort like nothing that has ever been done before. You are creating a legacy that will extend for generations.
One year from today is the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Let’s make Linda’s first year as director the most successful to date and set a record number of additional stories. Can we do 20,000? 50,000? The more participation we have, the more we can do. Carry on.
